I am not my sad days

I am not my aching depression

I am not my panicking anxiety

I am not my mental illness

I am not the scars on my skin

I am not my multiple piercings

I am not my unnatural hair colors

I am not my outside appearance 

But here is what I am

I am smarter than I give myself credit for

I am not completely hopeless

I am a ray of sunshine

And I have a beautiful soul

I am no where near perfect

I have too many scars to count

But does it really matter?

No, because I am me.
