I Am Me

To know me is to love me.
But my heart is cold.
I've come a long way from my once heart of gold.
I've cried and wept.
I've slumped and grunted.
I've ven been the one they hunted.
I fussed and fought.
I won the war.
I came and saw a brand new world.
They clapped and cheered.
They roared and soared.
They greeted with smiles.
My face was worn, I'd traveled miles.
My time had come.
I was reborn.
The blissful end was near.
I even shed a tear.
But here I was, simple as me.
The best me I could ever be.
