I am here
This poem is written in memory of my great-grandmother, Edna R. Mapp. She was awesome!
When the dew from the grass wakes you and you feel alone
Know that I will be there
When the sun is in the sky and no longer seems to shine,
Look out far, I will be there
And when you feel the world is crashing down
Know that I am there
Remind yourself that you are strong because I have taught you
Remember the lessons I taught you outside of the classroom
Just be sure to be aware of the power and love in your heart
For the wisdom you carry is not only because of me,
But know that I will always be there
You may cry and you may rethink the memories,
But remember I am there
I am the dew that appears upon the leaves every morning
I am the sun that shines bright to light the dark days
And even though I have left the world,
I will always be a part of your world
But push forward and see tomorrow even if it isn’t promised
Just know I am always there
