I Am The Ghetto

I can feel the oppression of my people & hear the deceiving voice that tells me we're all "equal".

I Am The Ghetto

I can hear the innocent cries of single mothers raising children with tears in their eyes.

I Am The Ghetto

I can feel the pain of that little boy who feels so alone wondering why daddy's never coming back home.

I Am The Ghetto

I can see the face of determination in a young artist in his basement trying to make it.

I Am The Ghetto

I am the open wounds of gang bangers & the motive of drug slangers.

I Am The Ghetto

I am the place where 70% of teenage girls have babies & people in their 80's still ain't escape me.

I Am The Ghetto

I am the battlefield where death rates are cold & steady...I am a curse for some & a motivation to many.

I Am The Ghetto

Me & police will never get along, Im the hood that every rapper talks about in they songs.

I Am The Ghetto

Im the roaming grounds for Dopefiends & Pickpockets, with get rich schemes to try & make a big profit.

I Am The Ghetto

My houses and main streets will never lack residence, but now we draw hope because we have a black president.

I Am The Ghetto

But I represent way more than just hardship, violence, and poverty. My pain has been a stepping stone into glory & strength. The flames in my vains remain even when the weather get cold, even if you leave me the memories will never let go.

I Am The Ghetto

Deep down in my roots I hold soul, I hold a legacy that will live on forever. I represent the integrity of my all my ancestors who risked it all so that I can to be free.

I Am The Ghetto and The Ghetto is Me.
