I am the future of Detroit

I am Rachel I wonder where Detroit will be in 10 yearsI taste the organic foods of Eastern MarketI see the ever-expanding skyline of Detroit, day after dayI want a beautiful cityI am the future of Detroit I am Rachel I understand the poverty throughout the East SideI worry for the citizens kicked out of their homes, being replaced by new apartments I smell the mold growing in the Detroit Public SchoolsI cry for the homeless on a cold nightI am the future of Detroit I am Rachel I touch the gravel of the new rail lineI feed my family with the foods from the urban gardensI learn with the children on each blockI hope to see my city in smiles instead of frownsI am the future of Detroit I am Rachel I feel a revival in DetroitI yearn for a new life inside the cityI dream for a thriving neighborhoodI fall in love with the city more and more every dayI am the future of Detroit!
