I Am ***Flawless

What is perfection?

Is it acing every test?
Or always trying to do the best
In school, at work, in life
Be popular and strive to be
On everyone's good side?
Perfect student, perfect grades
Or is it something about age?
Old or young, we all have fun
And want that moment in the sun
But what is perfect?
We live, we die
Not knowing why we are who we are
Or who we're told to be.

We're flawless with flaws.
I always give pause
When I'm told to change
It may seem strange,
but everyone does it
Use makeup? Flawless
Dress up? Flawless
Act out? Flawless
Blackout. Flawless

If I become more appealing,
My rates will go right through the ceiling
But aren't I appealing from the start
By both my demeanor and my heart?
I am flawless.
I persevere and stay steadfast
I set big goals and make them last
So that, one day, I will achieve
What I know is destined for me
A prosperous life, where I won't be
Made to change for anyone but me

I always give pause to what they want
For what I need
My need to be me
The perfect me. The flawless me.
