"I Am Fine"

My house is swarmed with people,

I am cornered in and

There is no escape.

“How are you doing?” They ask.

Flowers are piling up in the worst way.

Cars are lined up around the block and

Everyone is dressed in black

“How are you doing?” They ask.

I watched as they carried her out of the Sanctuary

I bowed my head and

Listened to the closing prayer

“How are you doing?” They ask.

The room is silent,

I said my final goodbye and

Walked out with my head down.

“How are you doing?” They ask.

I wanted to yell

Scream

Throw something

“How are you doing?” They ask.

“I am fine.”
