I am the captain of the sea

Location

Even through the all the crap we still stayed together

But we were just so young, we didn't know any better

Side by side even through the lies through all the pain

As time sailed on, we learned nothing would stay the same

Little by little everything about us began to change

The way you looked at me, the way I looked at you

I continued overthinking like what the hell did I do?

You proved that the first love is the sweetest

And that first cut is the deepest,

But when you broke my heart, girl you shattered it to pieces

There were no words to explain the pain I endured

And just like a cigarette, I watched us slowly burn

Now look at us. We’re strangers to one another

At one point we protected each other like sister and brother

But as time went on we slowly drifted away

I tried keeping you to myself, begging you to stay

Losing count of all the long nights that I laid awake

Nothing worked; nothing would keep you by my side

Watching myself as I slowly started to capsize

I cried and cried, but your love I was still denied

For I was the boat and you were the overpowering tide

And like the captain that is infatuated by the sea

Only to be swallowed by its everlasting beauty
