I am the beholder of my beauty

Location

As a little girl your momma always tells you

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

That beauty isn"t only skin deep

That young girls don't need make up and filters

To be pretty

As a teenager the media always tells you

To buy this product and buy that one too

This product will make you pretty and so will that

They say let me show you all these filters and fillers

They say with out them you are ugly

With this new found way of thinking

teenage girls are presented with

A choice, a choice to either

Conform to ideals of the new age

Or to break apart and believe your individual beauty

As a young girl my momma always told me

That beauty is in the eye of the beholder

That beauty doesn't only reflect the outside

But the inside as well

I am my beholder

I will be a part of a new age

Of young women who decide to

Be fearlessly unfiltered and raw

I will not need filters and fillers

In order to determine my beauty and worth
