I AM ALSO HUMANby Dennis G. Dizon I have a dream that someday you and ICould talk and walk together hand in handWhere you are my brother and you'd treat me like oneWhere the color of my skin nor the shape of my eyesWon't deny me of your kindness for I am also... human! I feel hunger, I feel thirst, I feel painI feel sorrow, I feel joy singing in the rain;I've seen terror, I've seen beauty from withinWhat it's like to lose, to break, or to hope in vainTo dream of equality that the heavens have ordained! But why do you treat me with brutality? What did I do to deserve such cruelty? Is it because of my race or my ethnicity?Or the way I speak that you think is so funny?Whatever it is, whatever reason there may beI hurt like everyone else is that so hard to see? You see, it's really not that hard to understandIf you'll open your eyes, your heart, and your mindWe are all children of God, no matter where we're fromPlease lend me your ear, please lend me your handFor I am your brother, yes, I AM ALSO HUMAN!
