I AM...

I remember how worried I was,

How I prayed for a different face, a different body,

All I could think about were FLAWS.

I remember how painful it was,

How old friends now hated me,

All I could think about was DISAPPEARING.

I remember how I was so confused,

How I cried in the shower, until I couldn’t breathe,

All I could think about was my SELF HATRED.

I remember how I was so relieved,

How I switched schools so easily,

All I could think about was starting FRESH.

I remember how I was so happy,

How I was laughing so hard it hurt,

All I could think about were my FRIENDS.

I remember how tight my chest was,

How I knitted a hat for him,

All I could think about was my LOVE for him.

I remember how proud I felt,

How I gave a speech so well, and was applauded,

All I could think about was my CONFIDENCE.

And now I remember just how grateful I am,

How my life has changed so much,

All I can think about is my BRIGHT future.

I am so DIFFERENT from my old self,

But I am the TRUEST form of ‘ME’ I’ve ever been.

I am GROWING, I have no limits.

I am becoming STRONG enough to stand tall, even alone.

I am DREAMING higher than I ever have before.

I am HAPPY, and there isn’t much left in the world I can ask to be.
