A Hushed Thunder Storm

The sound of thunder and the flash of a light
Oh what a rainy and miserable night
A child's cry from deep within
The sound of rain on a roof of tin
The fear of a child is visible on their face
hiding under a blanket made of plushy lace
The sad feeling consumes you as you gaze outside
Sitting curled up as the news discusses a rising tide
Mommy always has the best things to say
Like don't be afraid baby there will be puddles the next day
