Humility
Proverbs 11:2
2 Pride leads to disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
Proverbs 15:33
33 Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom;
humility precedes honor.
Humility
Is humility possible ... without knowing who you are?
Dishonor to God comes equally through anguish and ecstasy.
Bright or dull shaped by self and all through your own feeling
Then to escape from what you should be into a self-made fantasy.
What is this dilemma ... my environment affects my feelings?
I can’t conquer my environment ... most all of the time.
My feelings seem alive and change with environment’s shifting
So I can’t keep from drifting ... from a steadfast walk that’s mine.
How can I serve Jesus ... in gladness or in sorrow?
How to get through emotional energy that dies as quick as it comes?
It leaves traces on the landscape ... that I will walk to-morrow
And directs me to a path ... that leads me far from home.
How to exercise my will in strength ... separated from emotion?
What if one’s true life appears ... by our spirit through the will?
My will should be working ... in lieu of my feeling’s devotion
And be exercised day and night ... with no aid from feeling still.
Sensation is not a measure ... of spiritual life of a Christian.
When a Christian walks through drought he’ll experience authentic life.
If our spirit can press on with will’s assistance disregarding emotion
Then real progress in the spiritual is made unknowingly without strife.
“To faint in heart,” is emotion ... you know feeling unqualified?
What you receive in emotion ... has to be preserved in the will.
Only what is retained in the will becomes part of your life’s devotion
Stimulating for action the parts ... it wants until desire is fulfilled.
