As Human Beings
Location
Minorities,
Women,
LGBT,
Why is it that no one sees,
The world is not just white men,
That conquered land across the sea,
And called it home?
Foreigners,
Neighbors,
All in one,
Let us act like brothers and sisters,
And not close our doors,
Turn our backs, and run,
On those in need of help.
Child-bearing,
Job-holding,
Creatures,
Loving, nurturing, caring,
House-cleaning, laundry-folding,
Mothers, scientists, soldiers, teachers,
Strong, deserving women of the world, we salute you.
Lesbian,
Gay,
Transsexual and bi,
Catholic, Baptist and Lutheran,
Many religions alike say,
Be sexually sinful and die,
But where has our acceptance gone?
Our civil rights give us power,
The movement of movements,
Inspiring others to,
Stand,
Speak,
Fight,
For what they believe,
For the treatment they deserve,
As human beings.
No one will give us,
A second thought if we
Let ourselves be,
Oppressed,
Depressed,
Distressed,
By those that believe,
We do not need the treatment we deserve,
As human beings.
Do not be afraid,
Our predecessors set the stage,
Letting us know it is okay to,
Yell,
Scream,
And have a dream,
About what we believe,
About the treatment we deserve,
As human beings.
Minorities,
Women,
LGBT,
Why is it that no one sees,
The strength of women AND men,
Regardless of what their religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation might be?
We all call this planet home.

I appreciate your message that although everybody is different, we all deserve to be treated fairly. We all have a voice that should be heard and accepted.
Have you ever thought about recording this poem, or making a video about it? Poetry is meant to be heard, and not just read. I think that if you spoke this poem, it would make an even bigger impact. Keep using your poetry to make a difference!

Very well written, worded and expressed! I loved
"Stand,
Speak,
Fight,
For what they believe,
For the treatment they deserve,
As human beings."
Very powerful! And I love the last line!
