Howl: We're Half Way There

They’re all talking at me

40 degrees

Deserted college campus

Running wild

blinded by the darkness of the early morning

Ripped jeans, converse, and skateboards

We’re all howling at the moon and I finally feel alive but then

they’re all talking at me

and I can’t hear them

I can never hear them

"Take this, it’ll make you feel better"

Cheek on the pavement, I cry for the girl who would’ve asked what it was and uttered a nervous “no”

Where is she, I can’t find her, this is all pointless,

I think I’m screaming but It’s probably her, she’s trapped

It’s 40 degrees, I’m numb from the cold

But I don’t think that’s it, I tuck in my knees

And now we’re all on the ground

Screaming loud

And I can finally hear them

Yelling curses and fears

because no matter how much we don’t want to be, everyone keeps telling us

"Congratulations, you’re half way there."
