How Love Saved my Life

My Mother's Day gift was Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

They say it was the chemotherapy and radiation treatment that saved my life.

But they're wrong.

It was the meals that were brought to my shocked family

and the close friends who visited

week to week.

It was the church members that said prayers on my behalf

and classmates who sent me kind letters.

In that year of treatment,

it was the visits that I couldn't live without.

Doctors tell me what saved me was the chemotherapy

But I know

that it was my friends, my family, and my God that truly saved me.

Survival is not the same is living

and Love is something that I cannot live without.
