How I knew it wouldn't last

I remember sitting in your floor,

A pizza box between us,

and a pillow fort behind.

We were talking,

and I wanted to touch your hair,

It looked so soft.

It was,

your curls unravled like clouds,

My fingers were lost in the waves.

The rest of me,

was lost in your eyes,

While you told me you were tired.

We went to your room,

I borrowed a shirt,

and we slept until the next evening.

It was perfect,

so perfect,

That's how I knew it wouldn't last.
