A House Divided

Thu, 05/16/2019 - 12:50 -- Cayp

A house divided cannot stand
And you think a nation can
Outcasted because of my skin
Or because i'm not  a man
Society has given me a right to be a fan
Or cheer for my man while I’m in the stand
But why i Can do any job a man Can
Yet I’m obligated to cook and clean
Make sure when i eat Im nice and neat
Or “Kings” just really want my seed
i choose to defy that if you haven’t seen
Wear my hat to the back while i cheer for my favorite football team
Or maybe that’s even me on the screen
Doing something everyone calls a “boy thing”
A house divided Cannot stand
And yet you think a nation can
Outcasted because of my skin
Or because I’m not a man
I’m not even going to go in depth on how wrong it is to be judged because of my skin
Everyone hears that enough on CNN
Or do you
You’ll hear it on the news but they’ll flip the script
Headlined “Alleged drug dealer shot and killed“
Never knew it was a crime to be black
But every time i look back it’s a flashback
Cops look left and right after they shoot em
And had the nerve to tell his partner he had to do it
And he was proven not guilty in the court because he was “scared”
Shot a handicap black man that couldn’t comprehend
He didn’t even have the right mind to defend
And yet they shot this man
And Didn’t even think about is kin

Damn at least they have to deal with their sin

A house divided cannot stand

And Yet you think a nation can

Outcasted because of my skin
Or because I’m not a man
Back in the day we did the things we do today

And that's a shame because our motto is if we don't learn it won't change

We learn everyday it's not okay to be enslaved

Yet some of my people are behind bars because they have a craze

And i don't blame them sometimes there is a crave

To run around like were trying to escape a maze

But Being black is not a phase

“Higher’ people cant even look me in my face

In other words lighter people are scared to be in my place

All they know is i'm an animal that can't elaborate on the conundrums

Or can't excogitate to the level of one

I just want to go out and have fun

Picture perfect home

Frame it up and put me on the wall

But bullies pin me up on a stall

Scared that i'm going to be the source to their downfall

I would be scared too all this sauce and the swag of my people

Not just black people but everybody who stands against unnecessary police killings

Those are the people that i consider to be my people...

They make it seem like our lives are a sequel

Replay the shootings just with different people

Protest black lives matter to help my people heal

But they end up harmful because all we do is “steal”

But it's okay for you to snatch my life without conceal

Then they say black lives matter and ima just be real

That's a protest to my protest because yall not getting killed

I get it, my position my emotions they cant feel em’

But i want them to know so my mouth won't be sealed

A house divided cannot stand
And you think a nation can
Outcasted because of my skin
Or because i'm not  a man
