Horcrux

I am pages filled with nonsense,

And ones filled with too much sense.

I am oversized sweatshirts

To try and hide the discomfort I feel in my own skin.

I am dreams too big for my body,

And pain too big for my soul.

I am a wearer of socks to bed,

To cover knees long since scabbed to scars.

I am a cross wrapped tightly in rainbow ribbons,

Bleached white.

I am the girl that sits on her front porch and watches the storm roll in,

Yet can’t seem to make it leave.

I am an eagle,

In his beak a ribbon of bronze and blue.

I am working until midnight to get homework done,

But a memory of correctness, and straight A’s.

I am a specter, and a spectator

Of what my life could be.

I am dark circled eyes, and a thin frame,

Purposefully created from self-hate.

I am but a horcrux,

Trying to come alive.
