"honey, either you wear nail polish or you don't"

You told me I was beautiful

You said I made you smile

You said, “Take care,”

“Be happy, child.”

I ran your hand through my hair

You said you loved it short

It’s longer than it was

But soon I’ll cut it more.

You told him you loved him

He said he loved you

You thanked him for the love

He said, “What else would I do?”

You told her that he loved her

And he and him and you

And you were loved by her

And this much you just knew.

You said you felt six

Of five souls in that room

We feared only four

But three had known this gloom

And two suns set today

But one son will not rise

And yet that son ascends

To grace all of our skies.
