Homie

Location

She grew up without a daddy
Only 6 years old
Mama never spoke a word
Just broke her back on the stove
Little brother just a baby
Couldn't get up and go
So he just curled up in the corner
Tried to fight with the cold

There was a loud click then a bang bang
Two broken locks and a window pane
With no hesitation
Playing no games
Homie cocked back
On her brother's brain

Mama watched it from the kitchen
Sent a chill up her bones
Cried for someone that could help
But couldn't reach for the phone
She felt alone

Homie took his chance to do it
Ripped the clothes off her back
But she was only 6 years old
She took the pain and collapsed

Little girl on her knees had no place to go
Tried to run to her mama but homie held on so strong
Put his lips to her ear as he
Whispered so slow...
"Daddy's home".
