On my wall, there is a map
of all the distant places I want to see-

            From ancient castles and palaces
            to grand natural phenomena-

From bustling cities and quiet villages
to forrested mountains and clear waters-

Every land so rich in nature and history.

On my wall, there is a map
listing many lands, but not my home.

But one day I heard the birds outside,
singing as they did when I was young-

And while castles and cliffs do draw me still,
I enjoy the warmth of the suns rays on the porch-
the native trees tickling my nose-
the sparkling dots on ocean waves-
the comfort of friends and family in this place I call home.

This poem is about:
My community
My country
Our world
