I’ve been around for a while
Taking on the good and bad
The sun and the rain
Both beating down upon my frame
This is one of the reasons why I pray

I shed tears when I clasp my hands together
Not out of sadness
But because I am calling out
Asking for vindication
And absolution
I want to be free for a second to breath
Inhalation is something I wait for
Because I’ve already exhaled

While I feel at times I struggle to maintain my faith
I know that Divine is here to put his hand on my back
And hold me up when I am struggling to walk
Awareness that the Divine is here to embrace me on my worst day
Be it known that the Divine has preserved my presence
Because it is a wonder that I am still here

In the end, what can be said is
There is something afoot
It’s holy
