The hollow echo of a love song

Love
A whispered word to shooting stars
A cause for battles in age old fairy tales
The deepest desire and yearning in a human heart
Merchandised by sappy love songs
Marketed by superfluous poems
Promises that aren't kept
A cookie cutter mold bent and misshapen
Does it even exist
Can I describe the expanse of my love without sounding dramatic
Will you believe me
I love you as the stars in the sky, galaxies apart but yet so close, so bright, so intimate
The stars that hear my wishes each night carried on moonbeams and observe my dreams from their place in the sky, as the fireflies dance around my head
I love you as the sunbeams, grazing the dew on the grass, gently caressing the earth, bringing light to a new day
I love you as a helping hand, outstretched to a broken soul, a welcoming voice in the early night, a shoulder to cry on
I love you as an anchor to reality and a journey to a dream
And I realize this expression is empty, with rich words of no substance and impossible professions
But I cannot imagine a world without you
Nothing you could do could end my love for you
Until the sun stops shining and the stars leave the galaxy
Until the rainbows lose their color
Until we both learn to love ourselves
From now until the day after forever
I love you
