Hollow

There you lay, in box of the deceased.
I watch as they carry you to the nest of our creator.
Stiff as rock, and cold as a winter’s day.
Here I am wasting away what others have achieved.
I envy the beauty in life as I rot away,
Knowing that the purpose to the beat in my chest is now silenced.

Through the woods the birds sing as you are carried through.
I follow and sing along.
My presence surrounds your hollow body.
Your coffin calls to me hour by hour;
Don't leave me, let us travel this road together.
Mental messages meaningly fill my empty brain.

Why must it have happened now?
We approach the farm and nostalgia fills the air inside me.
Time is not on my side.
The odds were not in my favor today.

When you were here I dare not say;
But now your gone and I have no way.
I always loved you and I missed my chance.
You lay hollow at the farm where we grow.
You lay hollow,
Hollow, next to me in my grave.
