Hiding

Galatians 5:13

Practice Love

13 For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.

Hiding

Where do I stumble first?

Is it in food and feeling good?

Or is it drink and singing

to let grief disappear?

Exchange reality

from the misery of your being

for a moment of contentment

to remove yourself from here

Hide from me! You feelings

the ones that I don’t like

Crawl into a corner

and get lost for a while

I know, I can’t be different

although I need to be that way

Then just for a moment or two

my sanity will stay

When I wake with an empty cup

you are there again

Rushing through my aching head

not leaving me alone

Will I go down like yesterday

or feel better for a while?

So that today looks better

although dried out to the bone
