In Hiding

On the outside, I am laughing
On the inside, I am crying
On the outside, I am smiling
On the inside, I am dying

I blend in with the others
About as well as anyone does
I joke around and play
I talk and I buzz

I don't let anyone in
Nor do I let anything out
I cower within myself
I grin instead of pout

Everything stays cooped up
And I refuse to open the door
That will unleash my troubles
That will unleash so much more

For when I search within myself
I do not like what I find
Thank goodness for
This mask I hide behind
