The Hidden Impact

Standing,

Front of the room,

All eyes on you,

As your sweat pours through your shirt,

Shivering under the searing lights,

Wondering whether to fight or to flight.

Your eyes scan and screen,

Familiar faces unseen,

All waiting, your act in jeopardy

Freeze.

Deep Breath.

"All will be okay"

You whisper

Your heartbeat settles,

The last sweat falls as a flower petal.

The crowd flutters,

You saunter off the stage,

Unaware of the impact

On someone you have made,

By facing the fear

Of which your were shaped,

They live to see another day.
