Hidden Behind The Curtain

Location

Hidden Behind The Curtain

It's a masquerade ball

monsters are beautified to all

This ugly little creature is encased

hidden behind the curtains that fall

This ugly seems untrue

from the others' point of view

This trance seems so real

yet the harshest critique lies within me and you

Fear is the cause

for the knife that society draws

cuts deep into the darkest soul

Watch as the curtain falls

I lay drunk underneath the stars

I know these are not iron bars

This curtain can be lifted

But can the world handle the oddly gifted?

Society sets the trap of acceptance

I'm safer in the distance

But it can get lonely behind the curtain

Of my identity, I'm left uncertain.
