Hidden Beauty
A diamond twinkles in the dirt—
A quick, blinding flash!
But it is overlooked,
Missed by the quick, apathetic eyes.
Dewdrops create facets of rainbow light,
Oh, how brilliant!
A foot comes thundering down,
Separating the drops into millions of atoms.
“We’re just extraordinary souls living in ordinary times,”
I whisper to the radiant jewel-toned beetle.
He winks back at me, “They’ll spot our beauty yet.”
