Heroes
Remember when kids used to play with Barbie and action figures or sit in the
house and watch cartoons. In today's day and age, it feels like the younger
generation is getting older as the time passes. Little girls are twerking
and some are even having children before they even reach their freshman year
of high school.. my question is, what ever happened to the "Heroes"? Heroes
to children give them hope. Hope that they can soon grow up to be something
amazing rather than someone trying so hard to grow up that they forget how
much life is really ahead of them. In this day and age, we have sex and
violence instead of hope and bravery. In this day and age, we have words of
slang instead of words of encouragement. In this day and age, we have strippers
instead of doctors. In this day and age, we have gangstas instead of lawyers.
We have "what's cool" instead of "what's RIGHT". We have more killings than
charities. We have more hatred planted deep in this world than we have love.
We have more single parents and less pride & commitment. We have more
kidnappings and less respect. We have more drop outs and less love for
education, less love of learning, less believing that we can actually get
to a better place in this world if we work for it. Instead we have abandoned
homes, uneducated souls and the free sense of "coolness" floating around in
our very atmosphere, and not the type of climate- the type where we have to
do certain things just to fit into this world, do wrong just to be- just to
feel accepted. But what if I told you that I don't want to be cool just to
fit in ? Would you like me any less ? Because in this world- I want to make
it, in this world I want to make a change, in this world I want to stand up
and be somebody instead if sitting around thinking about being somebody while
following everybody else. In this world, I want to be somebody's hero.
