A Hero

It was not my mother

Who dried my tears

It was not my father

Who taught me to fight

Music

Taught me to listen, to feel

Books

Taught me to analyze, to understand

But they were not my heroes.

They were my escape

In a world of darkness

They were my isolation

My hero

Is not an idea

An item

A thought

My hero

Is not my family

My friends

My relations

My hero

Is not an external thing

I found a hero

In myself

I

Have taught myself

To be strong, when I can

To bend, when I must

I

Have taught myself

To face my challenges

To work towards my goals

I

A product of ages

Made of stars

Found a hero in myself
