The sun came with our inhalations that slowly sucked oxygen out from the sky until we all starved on boneless frames and sightless eyes. She spoke silent words that molded clay love in my hands, but I trembled with a passing wind and what was clay turned to mud and slid like our smiles through white fingers. When she walked, her feet fell through moss and the people cried but they don't know why they know only their feet and the footprints that show them the way like fireflies. She does not cry, she dries tears until she fills up like the ocean and her breath goes in and out with the tide. A strumming guitar hums chords into the breeze. A girl dances, watching music pass through her small bird body like a mirror. When she laughs, it is the laughter of the song bringing forth the tide and small bubbles that float by on waves of her breath.
