Helping Those Who Gave So Much

I entered college with dreams of opening my own gym

Dreams of making others healthy

Dreams of creating athletes

Dreams of changing lives for the better

Then I stumbled upon a video

It changed my perspective

It changed my life

It changed my dream

A gym owner found a legless veteran

He invited him for a workout

He got him healthy

He got him off heroine

My new mission is to open my own adaptive training gym

To provide a gym for those that can’t workout at a normal gym

To lessen and take away chronic pain

To get men and women off drugs

To give them a place to destress

To be a force against veteran suicide

To improve their lives

This poem is about:
Me
My community
My country

My dream of opening an adaptive training gym began when I watched a youtube video about David Vobora and the gym he created for veterans and civilians with physical disabilities. Most people with amputaions can't go to the gym and workout, they need a specialized program, and assistance equiptment that they can use. I hope that after recieving a bachelor's degree in Fitness Wellness, a business minor, and a potential masters in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training, I can create a gym to help the physically disabled become healthier, live longer, and be happier.
