Heart of Steel

Tue, 08/27/2013 - 15:21 -- Des_B

Living a little is being in touch with reality.

You love.

You laugh.

You cry.

You hurt.

I tried to outrun the realities of life, but then reality hit me; you can’t outrun life.

It’s like trying to outrun death...impossible right?

Now it’s left me sitting here examining my life.

Lonely because I was afraid of hurting a little, loving a little, and crying a little,

You can’t outrun life.

Now I’m sitting here wishing God made us creatures that didn’t need companionship.

I pushed everybody away because they disappointed me once or twice,

But that’s all it took for me to cut them out of my life.

I’ve seen loved ones hurting a little, loving a little, and crying a little,

And I said that wouldn’t be me because I wanted to escape the pains of life.

Now look at me. I’m stuck in this rut with a heart of steel.

Who can penetrate this heart of steel?

 I welcome the challenge.

Living a little is being in touch with reality.

You love.

You laugh.

You cry.

You hurt.

You can’t outrun life. It’s like trying to outrun death.

Impossible right?
