I was surrounded by complete darkness as a result of my sin

But He lifted me up

I saw His bright light and knew I would never be the same

I was being called to leave my sin and past behind

I was being called to pick up my cross and follow him

I was being called to a greater purpose

I used to sing a song of dread but now I sing a new song of hope

My troubles no longer overtake me

All because He lifted me up
