Hater Of The Light And Worshiper Of The Dark

I know well enough

That I am not alone

But nevertheless my resolve is to never give up my secret

For if ever I did I would certainly be stoned

Or forced to pack up and leave their home

To show my own soul

Would risk all my control

I left my humanity tied to a pole

Expecting it to die

Or transform into a bird and fly

For as long as it lives is as long as I am to live this lie

And today I will say

I still try to scrape by

Keep my humanity out of my mind’s eye

Only in private shall I consent myself to cry

But for you I shall try

Smile and be a content guy

All for the public eye

It was not long ago

When I gave it a try

I made a rally cry

This is who I am

It was bliss for one second

Then deadened in the next because

Altogether they turned a blind eye

Allowing me a chance to withdraw my nuclear weapon

My secret

I won’t explain

For it threatened to shame their name

No one to walk me through the pain

My heart turned to rock

Now I remain

A hater of the light and worshiper of the dark
