The Hardest Question

Who am I?

Who do I want to be?

I ask myself this question daily.

Where do I want to go in life?

What do I want to do when I get there?

We are expected to know these answers by age 18.

How are we supposed to make such important decisions, when yesterday we still had to ask to go to the bathroom?

Being expected to know these answers is like expecting a cat to speak English.

What If I make the wrong decision?

What if I change my mind?

Will my whole future unwind?

The feeling of uncertainty is as scary as knowing you are going to fail at something you tried so hard for.

Making a decision is like having a huge weight lifted off your shoulders,

Because college is like climbing a skyscraper.

On the other hand,

When you have your life planned,

The stress disappears.

When you’ve made your decision,

Your troubles will be lifted.

The stress will turn to joy,

For you have been gifted,

With knowing what you want to do with your life.

Achieving your dreams is like winning a million dollars.

Graduating is like a child taking their first steps.

Starting your life is like a bird taking flight for the first time.

You, of all people, made a decision that was next to impossible to make,

And that decision led you to where you are now.
