Haiti
Haiti
By: Abbey Windham
They carry on
Day after day
The smiles on their faces
As white as pearls from the roaring oceans
Their homes are shambles
Pieces of trash nailed together
Their food is little
Rice and beans shared with one another
Their clothes are torn
Holes in everything they own
But their love is large
And frequently shown
Their joy is sufficient
They are happy without a doubt
And their lives are complete
There kindness never runs out
The people of Haiti inspire
They are humble without much desire
They show me how to be grateful
And prove to me that my cup is full
They show me how to be generous
That there is hope for all of us
They teach me to be loving
And thankful.
Even in the struggle
They inspire.
