HA! NO FILTER!

Location

I never had a filter
Because I am no drifter
Society wants us to believe
That we need a filter to deceive
And furthermore achieve
But I don’t need a filter
Just like I don’t need a mister
To define who I am

Who said I had a filter
HA NO FILTER!

I write my definition in calligraphy
Dictate it to future children like a biography
Tell them what is ugly
Put the negatives to rest like a eulogy
And then they call me rebellious
Because I speaking as though I have an ailment
Or make it’s just wisdom
Or maybe it’s just a lack of ignorance

But who said I had a filter?
HA! NO FILTER!

Can you see it in my eyes or is it a surprise
I spit fire from my soul
But you only see water because I compromise
No I am not trying to demise the fact you are listening

I just want to know
Who told you I had a filter?
HA! NO FILTER!

And it’s strange
It shows how deranged
Society has become
No filter out the womb
No filter in the tomb
No Filter when it begins
No filter when it’s through
My works have no filter
Because I refuse to use a filter
The contaminants of my life made me better
Lord know I cannot take a turtleneck sweater
And to all of you who do have a filter
I am not trying to diss ya
Make society mad
Get some gasoline
Get some fire
And bring an explosion to that water
That is the only way to survive life
So say HA! NO FILTER!
