A Guide for my Heart

She doesn't always get it right

At least, she's always learning.

Her big mistakes and selfish ways

Will one day be forgotten.

She doesn't always realize

The weight she's born to take.

A leader, soon, a fighter now,

A little 4 month puppy.

She doesn't always understand

The harness that's before her.

Her tiny paws, and major flaws

One day will fade with training.

She doesn't always get it right

By she I mean myself.

The biggest thing I learned to date

Is that I'm always learning.

My Guide Dog Puppy will depart

From home which I've provided.

For now, we'll learn through leash and love

A little 4 month puppy.

She doesn't always understand

The guidework she must learn.

But one thing we both understand,

Is that she guides my heart.
