Guarded

I keep my heart locked up in a box

Guarded by a dextrous black fox

But with a glance from you the fox was slain

My heart thrown into a hurricane

Round and round it tumbled and swept

The curse of love I must now accept

Your chocolate brown eyes, your shining smile

Leaving me confused and shaken, my heart in denial

My heart thinks you're the one for me

For you're the one who set me free

But when I loved you most you snapped me in half

And while I cried you stifled a laugh

Your shifty brown eyes, your deceiving smile

Left me battered and broken, my heart in exile

You'd captured my heart and it was too late

Is this slow painful death my only fate?

I gave you my life, you threw it away

The box with my heart left out in the rain
