Gray

Location

Sea fog lifting, billowing, moist morning mist.

Slug trail shimmering,

faded asphalt.

Quiet, calming, claustrophobic cellar smell.

City alleyway,

sunrise street scent.

Faded fields of wiry, thinning, tired threads.

Clouded eyes gazing,

Memories, thoughts.

Farmer’s stone mark, trail through pastures overgrown.

Fingers feeling moist,

Dewdrop-worn rock.

Sins softly whispered in cathedral corners.

Near new bank,

brushed-clean steel port.

Defunct sardine cannery—cement structure.

Seagulls roof-roosting,

feathers rest-soft.

Smoky swirls, spiraling into sooty air.

Content solitude,

pondering fog.
