Gravity

Gravity is calling
To the bones inside my frame
Heaviness engulfs me
And the ground has staked its claim

Sleepy is not tired
And this is something more
To give up from the fighting
A need to close the door

The weight of heaven pressing
The breath from in my lung
To suffocate on sadness
Bare thread to which life clung

Yet gravity is weakened
By blood of brightest sky
Earthen core falls feeble
As the angels chant and cry

Gabriel speak for me
Guardian take wing
Seraphim and cherubim
Gather all and sing

Let heaven’s force be lifted
By tongue of great and strong
Angels to the LORD on high
Sing salvation’s song
