Grateful and Blistered

You will never stop burning holes through my heart when I am alone and I am weak
Burning holes through my lip when I can't speak of you
Through my palms when I hold the hand of another
Through my pillow when I dream of you in another season of distorted sleep that chased me through the hills and finally caught me in mid-mourning
You'll never stop burning me
And filling my life with the ash of what could have been
But I still thank you to the ends of the earth for your love when it had met me
I won't ever forget when it saved me
Paved my way to this chapter of broken gratitude that will tread on through my eternity
So thank you.
