Goodbye, Daddy

A young girl who is about twelve

Helps her daddy work on his car.

For Nearly an hour, they devour

Candy from a jar.

He works at a shop

That makes things pop.

He drives a van,

But doesn't have a plan.

He goes to work

And sees the clerk.

When he's done,

He can have fun.

He comes home,

But not to Rome.

He has to go back

To work to unpack.

He starts to have a heart attack

Which felt like a whack.

He goes to the hospital

And had his approval.

The girl's mom got a call

And looked as if she would bawl.

The girl was with her sister

Playing Twister.

Her daddy was gone

His name was John.

She felt like a helpless bird

That was never heard.

The clouds covered the ground with darkness

Which added to her sadness.

Her life went on, but never was the same

Yet, no one was to blame.

Love for her daddy lasts forever

And won't ever sever.
