Good Dog

Location

You had my heart from the first moment I saw you.

You played with my long hair for at least an hour while I held you in my arms.

You cried the whole way home but I sang to you to calm your fears.

You loved to chase me around the house and snuggle up with me under the covers.

You let me play dress up with you.

You’d steal my underwear any chance you got, but I never held it against you.

You never met anyone you didn’t like.

You were always there to kiss my nose and dry my tears.

As you started to age, your eyesight started to go.

Your joints were weak and you slept a lot more.

You stopped getting up to greet me when I came through the door.

You had lost your spirit.

Your time was coming and I didn’t want to admit that my best friend was dying.

You weren’t yourself anymore, and I’m sorry I didn’t listen sooner.

I’m so sorry, baby girl.

Your unconditional love can never be paralleled.

You will be so greatly missed.

Good dog.

Rest in peace.
