Glow-Up

I was from daily family dinner.

Watching movies on the couch.

Three parents,

Who loved me dearly.

Two homes,

But one heart.

Hard working parents.

They gave me everything they could.

Then came the drugs and alcohol.

At a young age of 13.

Then it was no home.

One parent,

Who gave me what he could afford.

My heart broke,

God put it back together.

My little sister would become my daughter.

Working to help provide for the family.

Five years pass in the blink of an eye.

If home is where the heart is,

I didn’t have one.

After graduation,

Came College.

I worked hard for the scholarships.

Motivation comes and goes.

I’ve gotten this far,

There is no quitting now.

Definitely no looking back.
