Glorious Pride

A flag draped coffin on a stifling day
With somber taps that seem to say
A grateful nation, as your dead we lay
Into this earth, in a special way
-
Salutes your service, and the life you gave
Ev'ry sacred hour, ev'ry moment brave
When for pride and glory, to the task you clave
Determination on your brow engraved
-
More than life itself you held freedom dear
For it's noble call, laid aside your fear
Rest in peace now here, with a conscience clear
Glorious pride rides high, mid our glist'ning tears
-
