Glittering

I cannot live

with clouds that demand

to be seen

and stars that are covered over

with falsely-applied beauty.

I cannot live

with black skies that force

darkness into hearts

and stars that are hidden,

tiny specks in the background of death.

I cannot live

with a half-lidden moon that

shines sun-reflections on blind people

and stars that are ignored,

screened into box specularity.

I cannot live

with a world that believes

ignorance is bliss

and stars are rocks floating

gravity-less in rotation of the earth.

I cannot live

without stars who breathe

glitter into wishes

and whisper hello

with goodbye.
